REFORMA VIVIENDA EN CIUTAT COOPERATIVA
SANT BOI DE LLOBREGAT, BARCELONA
2020
Following the social housing typology of the 1960s, the original apartment layout prioritized the total number of rooms, resulting in a hierarchical structure of rooms: a double exterior room for parents, an individual exterior room for children, and a small interior room for ironing and storage. This, often marginalized spaces like the kitchen and bathroom, whose combined area barely exceeded 4.5 sqm. Recognizing that housing no longer needs to conform to this traditional family model, the project pursues a systemic, flexible architecture approach that facilitates future adaptations according to occupants’ changing requirements. As a result, two identical double exterior rooms were established.
This arrangement of interchangeable spaces introduces a degree of indeterminacy in their use, allowing the user to inhabit the areas in various ways. The proposal centers around a single volume, housing various activities (shower, refrigerator, closets). Furthermore, it streamlines access to main rooms, enhancing openness and visual connections within the apartment.
